Makeney Morris
Makeney Morris (pronounced make-nee) is a mixed Morris dancing side from Belper, Derbyshire, performing in the Cotswolds tradition. The side is comprised of both experienced and inexperienced dancers that wish to maintain tradition while incorporating a more modern aesthetic into their Morris dancing performance.
With an average age of less than 30, Makeney Morris prides itself on lively performances that captivate the attention of the audience. From graceful hanky Morris dancing to surging stick dances, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We practise in the market town of Belper, which is located in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and is only eight miles from the city of Derby.
