Morris Dancing Friends

Chip off the Old
Chip off the Old are a ladies Morris dance side based in Derby. We have been together since 1978 performing traditional Cotswold Morris dances using sticks and hankies, which originated in the villages of Adderbury, Brackley, Ducklington, Fieldtown, Lichfield and Ilmington. During the summer months (May to August) we perform at festivals, well dressings, village inns and fairs often with other Morris teams.

Dolphin Morris
Dolphin Morris is a men’s Cotswold Morris dance team. We practice on Thursday nights from September through to April. Then, from May to August, we can be found on Thursday evenings dancing at pubs around Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire

Foresters Morris Men
The Foresters Morris Men (full title “The Foresters Morris and Sword Dancing Club”) was formed in 1952, and was the first morris dancing club in Nottingham. We perform mainly English morris dances from the Cotswold and border regions, together with some dances from Lichfield.

Lady Bay Revellers
Lady Bay Revellers were formed in 1992 and have gone from strength to strength, practicing during the winter months learning new dances and polishing up old ones. We are a mixed team and have a very active and varied calendar and social life, dancing throughout the year at local and charity events and Festivals around England, including tours with other Morris teams and International trips away each summer.

Ripley Morris
Ripley Morris are based in Ripley in Derbyshire and were formed as a men’s side in 1924. The side flourished until the early 1950’s and was then re-formed in 1981. The side continues to thrive today. The side encourages new women and men wishing to learn Morris to join us.

Ripley Green Garters
Ripley Green Garters North West Morris. We welcome female dancers from 14+ to all ages. No experience required. Male and female musicians, come and make music with us.

Stone Monkey Sword Dancers
Based in Long Eaton, between Nottingham and Derby, Stone Monkey Sword Dancers have strong links with the rapper tradition. Formed around 1990/91, Stone Monkey Sword Dancers specialize in the Rapper Sword Dance.
